Chapter 10: The Pull-Off
The dirt road was the third turn after the last restaurant.
It climbed in switchbacks through scrub oak and ended at a wide gravel pull-off with a view of the whole city.
I put the Camry in park and cut the engine.
My hands were shaking on the wheel, and not from nerves.
Below us Denver lay in a gold haze, and the sun was an hour from the mountains behind it.
A trail ran along the ridge above the pull-off, a narrow dirt path with a wire fence, and nobody was on it.
"Window," I said.
Mateo put his window down, and then he reached across me and put mine down.
The cool air came in carrying pine and dust.
"Seat," I said.
He found the lever and the passenger seat went back, and back, until it lay almost flat.
He lay with it, looking up at me.
I climbed over the console and straddled him.
My knees went to either side of his hips, with the steering wheel behind me and the roof inches above my head.
He put his hands on my thighs.
His hair was wild from the wind, and his eyes were black in the late sun.
"You're driving," he said.
"I am."
"Then tell me."
I had never in my life been answered when I said what I wanted.
I'd said "that's fine" and "if you like" and "whatever you want," and I'd waited for something good to land by accident.
I took his wrists and put his hands on my breasts through my shirt.
"First I want this off," I said. "Then I want your mouth on me while I take my jeans off. Then I want you to take your cock out and hold it for me, and I want to sit on it slowly."
