Chapter 7: First Lesson
He was at my back door at nine, with a loaf of bread wrapped in a towel, and he didn't knock.
I opened it before he could.
"I said bring nothing," I said.
"It's bread. It doesn't count."
I took it from him and put it on the table and turned the key in the lock.
The click went through the whole kitchen.
"Upstairs," I said.
My bedroom was under the eaves, with a slanted ceiling and an iron bedstead painted white that the landlord had left behind.
I had made the bed that morning.
I had also put a towel on it.
A bottle on the nightstand, and one lamp on low with a scarf thrown over the shade.
He stopped in the doorway and looked at all of it.
"You planned this," he said.
"I read a book. I took notes."
"You took notes," he said.
"In pencil. Strip."
He laughed, and it sounded nervous.
Then he took off his clothes in the lamplight, one piece at a time, folding each one over the chair.
When he was naked he stood with his hands loose at his sides.
I looked at him for a long moment.
He was lean, white-skinned, flushed from the throat down, and he was already half hard.
"On the bed," I said. "Lie on your stomach for me first."
He lay down on the towel.
I sat beside him and put my palm between his shoulder blades.
"We have nowhere to be," I said. "I want you to understand that. Nobody's timing this. If you want it to stop, you say stop, and it stops, and I'll still like you."
He turned his head on the pillow.
"I'm not going to say stop."
"I know. I'm telling you anyway."
I ran my hand down his back and over the curve of his ass.
He shivered.
