Chapter 17: The Mirror
Asher's POV
"After dark," I said. "You said it yourself at the elevator. You don't go out alone after dark."
Nicki stood in front of the mirrored wardrobe door in my bedroom, wet from the bath.
She had a towel around her hips, and her hair dripped down her back.
"I took a rolling chair," she said.
"Alone."
"The pusher was with me," she said.
"The pusher does not count."
"You're going to punish me for a rule I wrote," she said.
"You wrote it as mine to keep and yours to break," I said. "I'm only quoting you."
She smiled slowly at my reflection.
I was sitting on the edge of the bed with my forearms on my knees, in a pair of gray cotton pants and nothing else.
I had not touched her since the bath.
I had left a bruise on her hip, and I could see it in the mirror, a round purple print the size of my thumb.
"What's the punishment?" she said.
"Take off the towel."
She let it fall.
She stood naked in front of the glass with her shoulders back, and the lamp lit her from the side.
I looked at her for a long time.
She had a flush all the way down her chest from the bath.
The red marks of my teeth stood out on her neck and her shoulder.
Her nipples were hard.
"Look at yourself," I said.
"I am."
"Look at what you did tonight. Look at that mouth, and tell me what you see."
She looked.
She looked at her own face in the glass, and some of the brightness went out of it, and something quieter and fiercer came in.
"I see a woman who hit a man with a stair rod," she said.
"And?"
"And I see someone who liked it."
"Good," I said. "Come here."
She walked across the carpet to me.
I did not touch her.
I put my hands behind me on the bed, flat on the quilt, and let her stand between my knees.
"Take me out," I said.
She pushed down the cotton pants and my cock sprang free, hard enough to ache.
She wrapped her fingers around it and stroked once, slowly, from the root, and I let out a breath through my teeth.
"You like that."
"I like your hand on me," I said.
"Say it nicer."
"I like your hand on me, Nicki, more than I have ever liked anything."
