Chapter 21: Rule Nine Falls
The chairman of the Gaming Control Board stood under a gold light in the hallway with a folder in his hand.
He was a small, grey man in a rumpled suit who looked as though he had not slept since the invitation went out.

Rafe made a sound that might have been a cough.
The chairman ignored it.
"I have enforced Rule Nine for nineteen years," he said.
"The rule says Omega scent sways a room.
"It says an Omega at a high table is a danger to every player and to the house.
"I have written that sentence in forty-one rulings."
He opened the folder.
"Tonight a man flooded a room with his own scent, and I watched grown players go down on the carpet.
"I watched a woman with no patch sit through it like a rock in a river.
