Chapter 15: Ice House
Rafa's trawler rode high at the end of the dock, and the deck lights hummed over a heap of crushed ice in a white chest.
It was ten at night, and the crew had gone home to their wives.
I sat on the closed hatch cover in my father's old windbreaker, with my bare feet on the planks.
Rafa knelt in front of me on one good knee and one bad one, grinning.
"Jefa," he said. "You didn't bring me here to talk."
"No."
"Then what?"
"Take it off me," I said. "All of it. Slowly."
He took the windbreaker off my shoulders first.
He unbuttoned my blouse with his thick fingers, one button at a time, and kissed the skin each one uncovered.
His mouth was warm, and the night air was cool, and I shivered.
When I was bare to the waist he reached behind me, unhooked my bra, and let it fall.
"Mi reina," he said. "I could look at you until the boat rots."
"Look later."
I reached into the chest and took out a cube of ice.
It burned in my fingers.
I drew it slowly across my own collarbone, down between my breasts, and let it circle my nipple.
The skin tightened at once, and I heard him groan.
"Hands behind your back," I said.
He put them there.
"Don't move."
"Yes, ma'am."
I traced the ice over my other nipple.
Water ran down my ribs in a cold thread, and my stomach drew in.
Rafa watched it with his mouth open.
I held the cube against his lower lip.
"Take it."
He took it between his teeth.
"Now kiss me where I'm hot."
I lay back on the hatch and lifted my hips, and he pulled my skirt and underwear down my legs and tossed them aside.
He pushed my knees apart and looked.
Then he put his mouth on me, with the ice still in it.
I cried out, loud, in the open air.
The cold was a shock that went through me to the spine, and then his tongue, hot and heavy, pushed the cold into pleasure.
He licked me with the ice melting between his mouth and my skin, and the water ran down my thighs and over the planks.
