Chapter 18: Two and Two

Nobody moved.

Brody was still inside the last of his breath, with one arm thrown across my hip.

Wyatt blinked at the ceiling.

I looked at Dylan, in my doorway, with the pizza on my dresser behind him.

"Who said you could?" I asked.

"You did. Wednesday."

"Wednesday I said yes to Wednesday."

"Then ask me to stay."

"I'm asking you what you want, Dylan."

"I want to watch you say my name in front of them."

Brody sat up on one elbow, with his sandy hair stuck to his forehead and a grin coming back.

"You're late," he said. "We went first."

"She's not a queue."

"Tell that to her face."

"I'm telling it to yours," Dylan said, and crossed the room.

He stood over the bed in his jeans and looked down at me, at the three of us tangled in the sheet.

"Brody," I said. "Don't."

"I didn't say anything."

"You were going to."

"I was going to say that I made her come first."

"And I was going to say she said my name a dozen times on Wednesday," Dylan said, "and she's never once said yours."

Wyatt put his hand over his face.

"Oh my God," he said. "Stop. Both of you."

I sat up.

My hair was wild, and I was bare, and my thighs were slick and aching.

I didn't pull the sheet over me.

"I decide the order," I said. "Not you. Not the loudest one. Me."

They both went quiet.

"Wyatt's finished. He keeps time."
