My mother walked straight past Josh.
She went to Jenna and put both arms around her, the way she had in every doorway of my childhood.
Jenna let herself be held.
Over Jenna's shoulder, my mother looked up at the wall.
At the drawing, still there, twenty feet tall.
Then she looked at me.
"Turn that off," she said.
I didn't move.
"Amy. Turn it off. Now."
She let go of Jenna and came at me with her hand out, for the phone.
Not the phone. Not in this house.
I stepped back and held it against my chest.
The cable pulled tight between me and the side of the stage, and the drawing stayed on the wall.
"Ma'am."
The director was between us. She hadn't raised her voice.
"You need to leave my stage."
My mother looked at her the way she looked at waiters.
Then at the cameras.
All three red lights were on her.
She took Jenna by the wrist and walked her down the steps.
