Chapter 29: The Moon

Joss had rooms above the trade hall, two low ones with a stove and a bed under the eaves.

I shut the door behind us and put my back against it.

The snow was ticking on the roof, and neither of us had lit a lamp.

"There's no term left," I said. "I broke them both."

"I noticed."

"I'm not riding anywhere tomorrow. The road is finished, and I'm still here."

"Then come here," Joss said, very low.

I crossed the room and kissed him hard.

His hands came up under my coat and went flat on my back, the whole width of it.

I felt him breathe out against my mouth.

"Say it," I said.

"I want you. All of you. Every night, if you'll have me."

"I'll have you."

I pushed his coat off his shoulders and pulled his shirt over his head.

He was broad and warm, with a scar along his ribs that I put my mouth to, and he made a sound in his chest.

I undid his belt and pushed him back until he sat on the edge of the bed.

"Ivy."

"Quiet."

I knelt down between his knees and unlaced his trousers.

His cock was hard already, and it jumped when I wrapped my hand around it.

I took the head into my mouth and sucked, slow, with my tongue pressed flat underneath.

"Fuck," he said. "Fuck, Ivy."

His fingers went into my hair, and he did not pull.

I took him deeper, until the head touched the back of my throat, and then drew off slowly and licked the length of him.

He tasted of salt and skin.

I worked him with my mouth and my hand together, a wet steady rhythm, and I watched his stomach clench.
