He Slept With My Roommate, So I Moved In With the Hockey Captain novel · Chapter 7 of 32

Chapter 7: Viral

By breakfast, the clip had forty-one thousand views.

Nate sat at the kitchen table with both hands in the air.

"I swear I only sent it to the team chat," he said.

"Somebody in the team chat has a cousin," one of the teammates said, reaching for the eggs.

The video was short.

It showed a wet girl in a see-through shirt against a shower stall, a shirtless captain with his hand in her hair, and a very loud group of hockey players saying, "Oh my God."

The sound I made on it was not a sound I'd ever made in public.

I watched it once, with the volume off, and put the phone face down.

Brody stood at the sink drinking water.

He'd put on a gray shirt, and he kept rolling his taped shoulder and wincing.

"I'll make him take it down," he said.

"It's out there now."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"You didn't film it."

"I kissed you where he could."

I glanced up.

He was looking straight at me, and his face was tired and serious and not at all sorry.

"It was a good kiss," Nate offered. "As an audience member. Four stars."

"Nate," we both said.

He mimed zipping his mouth.

My phone buzzed against the table.

Kayla.

OMG I just saw!!! I'm so happy for you!!! Is this real?? 😭 Be careful with him though, hockey guys can be so hard to read. Call me when you want to talk 💛

I read it three times.

It was perfect. Warm, helpful, a little worried.
