Adrian reached for Noah's arm to turn him toward the bed.
Noah caught his wrist in the air between them.
Adrian stopped.
The prince who had never once waited for permission went still under Noah's hand.
Noah held the wrist and made him meet his eyes.
Adrian's eyes were dark and steady, and he did not pull away.
Noah felt the pulse under his thumb, slow and even, and the cold coming off the skin.
He had spent three stolen mornings learning the shape of this man's hands.
He knew what they did when no one stopped them.
'The vial,' Noah said. 'The pale one. It was on the table when I woke.'
'I poured it in the brazier.'
'Every drop?'
'Every drop,' Adrian said. 'I will not put anything beside your cup again. Not for the rite. Not for my father.'
