Chapter 12: After Six

They sat through the last two hours of the afternoon with a textbook open between them and neither of them reading it.

Ken kept his hands flat on his own notebook.

Jude kept his knee pressed against Ken's under the desk, and every time he moved it, Ken's pen stopped.

At 5:58, Ken closed the book.

At 5:59, he stood.

"Car," he said.

"The driver's here."

"Then walk faster."

They did not speak in the car, or in the front hall, or on the stairs.

Ken locked the door of the blue guest room behind them and stood with his back against it, and checked his watch.

"Six oh one," he said. "I'm off."

Jude was across the room in two steps.

Ken caught him by the hoodie and kissed him against the door, hard, and every second of the afternoon's waiting went into it.

His hands pushed the hoodie up and over Jude's head and tossed it aside.

Then he stopped, and held Jude at arm's length, and looked.

Jude's chest rose and fell.

He wanted to cross his arms.

"Don't," Ken said, quiet. "Let me."

His palms spread over Jude's stomach, wide and warm, the way they had on the lawn.

"I've wanted to put my hands here since the tent," he said.

"I thought about it all night, with you asleep on me."

"You never said."

"I'm saying."

He knelt, and pressed his mouth to the soft skin just below the navel.

Jude's knees almost went.

"Ken."

"You're beautiful," Ken said against him. "You taste like soap. I'm going to ruin you."

His hands undid Jude's belt, slowly, and Jude's cock sprang out hard and flushed, heavy against his stomach.

Ken looked at it, and looked up, and his gray eyes had gone almost black.

"God, look at you," he said.

Jude whimpered.

Ken wrapped one hand around the base, and took the head into his mouth.

The heat of it went through Jude like a current.

"Oh, fuck."

Ken's tongue swirled over the tip, slow and thorough.
