Chapter 18: The Trailer Camera
"How do you know?" I said.
"He showed me. He thinks it's funny." Sasha's whisper shook. "He's got it on his laptop in a folder called Teaser. He said the app can't stop him once it's on the big screen. He said a blurred boob is still a boob."
The shower stopped behind her.
"I have to go," she said, and the line went dead.
I sat at my kitchen table with nine pages of season two in front of me.
Then I did the thing I'd promised my mother.
I called her first.
At three in the morning, four of us stood in the dark behind Cheryl's on Main.
Mom was in her bathrobe and salon clogs, holding a flashlight.
Izzy had a headlamp on her backwards cap.
Lennon had ridden over from Long Beach in ten minutes.
The costume trailer still sat there, an old camper with flowered curtains.
Inside, the new grip's lights hung from a bar across the ceiling.
Lennon climbed onto the little dinette table.
"Rigs are rigs," he said. "Anything that's not supposed to be there, I'll know."
He ran his fingers along the bar.
