Chapter 19: Ewan's POV: Four Hours Until Dawn

Ewan's POV

She pulled me into her old bedroom at midnight and shut the door with her back.

The room had a narrow bed, a shelf of horse ribbons, and a window onto the north pasture.

She hadn't slept in it for three years, and nothing in it had been moved.

"Four hours until dawn," Briony said. "I'm not spending them thinking about a hearth."

"Your grandfather said sleep."

"My grandfather says a lot of things."

She came across the floor, pulled my shirt up over my head, and put her mouth on the scar under my ribs.

I stopped arguing.

I got my hands in her hair and walked her backward to the bed, and she fell onto it laughing, with her borrowed dress riding up her thighs.

I knelt over her and dragged the zipper down her spine.

She wasn't wearing anything under it.

I looked at the pale curve of her breasts and the shadow of her ribs.

My cock went so hard it hurt.

"You're staring," she said.

"I've been staring for six years."

"Then do something about it."

I took her nipple in my mouth and sucked, and she arched off the sheets and swore at the ceiling.

I licked a line down her stomach and kissed the inside of each thigh.

Then I put my face between her legs.

She was already wet.

I ran my tongue up the whole length of her, slow, and tasted her, and a sound came out of me that I couldn't have stopped.

"Ewan."

I sucked her clit between my lips and held it there with my tongue flicking, and her fingers locked in my hair.

"Fuck. Right there. Don't stop."

I didn't.

I slid two fingers into her pussy and curled them up to the spot that made her thighs clamp around my head.

I worked her until she was shaking and gasping my name into the pillow.

She came with her heels dug into the mattress and her whole body drawn tight.

I kept my mouth on her through every pulse of it.
