"Don't," Ma said to Ye-han, pleasantly.

"If you come one step nearer, I will let it go in."

Ju-won stood with his chin lifted against the needle and tears running down his face.

He did not make a sound.

Fifty of the regent's guards had closed around the two of them in a ring of swords.

The rest of the field was a riot.

Sect masters were shouting, and elders were running, and a line of Gyeong-wook's disciples was fighting at the edge of the crowd.

Ma began to walk backward toward the Hall of Elders, with Ju-won held in front of him.

Ye-han ducked under a cut.

Gyeong-wook caught the man's arm in the air without looking.

They moved across the white stone.

"Right," Gyeong-wook said.

"Two."

"Mine."

Ye-han took them.
