"Chloe Winslow," Gideon said.
His voice carried to the back wall, and it shook.
"I'm asking you to let the three of us stay."
"Not to keep you. To be kept by you, for as long as you'll have us."
"You say where, and when, and how."
I looked down at the dragon on his knees on the stone.
"Yes," I said.
"On my terms."
The hall went up.
Matt picked me up and spun me before I could stop him.
Chris pressed his forehead against my hair.
Nobody in that room could have heard what I said next.
I said it anyway.
"Matt. Tonight, you're mine first."
He put me down very carefully.
"Say that again."
"You heard me."
The Greywater boathouse stood at the end of a wooden dock on the black lake.
It had a sagging roof and a rowing boat tied up inside.
Matt had brought a blanket, two candles, a bag of peaches and a bottle of cider, and he was nervous.
