Chapter 17: Rope

I pulled the last loop tight and stepped back to look at what I had done.

Jubal lay on a stack of horse blankets on the tack room floor with his arms stretched over his head.

The lead rope ran from his wrists to the iron leg of the saddle rack.

I had tied it with a farrier's quick-release, the kind that falls open on one pull.

"One tug and it comes apart," I said. "You know that."

"I know that," said Jubal. "I'm not going to tug."

His shirt hung open, and his chest rose and fell fast.

The tack room smelled of saddle soap and old leather, and a cold light came through the one dusty window and lay across his freckles.

"Not a word," I said, "until I say."

His mouth opened, and I put one finger over it.

"Not one, Doc."

He pressed his lips together, and his green eyes went wide and wild and happy.

I took off my own shirt slowly, then my bra, and laid them on the saddle rack.

I watched him watch me.

I had never seen Jubal Sparlin quiet, and it was something to see.

I knelt astride his chest and unbuckled his belt behind me, working with one hand, and drew down his zipper.

His cock sprang free, long and flushed and already wet at the tip.

I did not touch it yet.

I took his bound hands in mine instead and kissed each knuckle, and the heel of his palm.

I kissed the inside of his forearm, up to the edge of the leather band.

The band stayed on.

I traced it with my tongue, around and around, and he shook under me.

"Mm," he said, helplessly.

"What did I say?"

He bit his lip.

I laughed, and I moved down his body and took him in my mouth.

He was hot and salty, and he jerked against my tongue, and the sound he made through his teeth was pure strangled relief.

I took him deep, slowly, and then I drew back and swirled my tongue under the head.

His hips came off the blankets, and I pushed them down with my palm.
