Chapter 24: The Luna

I walked up the aisle between the packs on my own legs.

Nobody carried me, and I did not need a crutch.

Four hundred wolves of Blood Moon stood on my left, and the Council's six Alphas stood on my right.

"The pack stripped every cloak in the hold last night," Caius said. His voice was steady. "We cut out the red."

He shook out the bundle.

It was a black cloak, heavy and new, and the lining was white.

"Blood Moon wears no red from this day," he said. "Not in the wool, and not in the thread."

"Red was the color they wore to burn your home."
