Chapter 18: Her Pick
The box was small, white, and unmarked.
Lorcan carried it up the porch steps between two fingers.
"It's addressed to you," he said. "No return address."
"I know what it is."
"Do I?"
"You will."
I took it upstairs and sat on the bed, still in his flannel, and slit the tape with my thumbnail.
He stood in the bedroom door with his arms crossed over his bare chest and snow melting off his hair.
Inside, in a nest of tissue, lay a long matte-black wand with a round soft head.
He looked at it for a while.
"Is that," he said.
"Yes."
"For you."
"For us. I picked it."
I turned it over in my hands.
It was heavier than I expected, smooth as river stone.
"I read the reviews twice," I said. "I read the manual once, and I want to use it today."
His throat moved.
"You picked it."
"I pick tonight too. Everything about it."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Take your jeans off and sit on the end of the bed. Please."
He undid his jeans, slowly, and stepped out of them, and sat.
His cock was already half hard.
I pressed the button and tested the head against my palm.
It woke with a low hum.
His eyes widened.
"You'll ask me questions," I said. "Every time. About where and how much."
"Questions."
