Chapter 23: The Show
Blair's perfume still hung in the office.
It was the same perfume, thick and sweet, from the studio next to mine.
Scott kicked the door shut behind us and set me on my feet.
He looked around once at the white leather chair, the glass desk and the silk scarf over the lamp.
"I'm throwing all of it out," I said.
"Tonight."
"In the morning."
"Tonight," he said, and pulled the scarf off the lamp and dropped it in the wastebasket.
Then he sat down in her chair.
He leaned back and looked up at me.
"Come here, Director."
I stood between his knees in my blue-striped dress.
He ran his hands up the backs of my legs, slowly, over my stockings, over my thighs, to the edge of my underwear.
"I want to take this off you."
"Then do it."
He peeled my stockings down, one at a time, and kissed the inside of each knee.
He pulled my dress up around my waist and my underwear down to the floor.
I stepped out of it.
"Sit," he said.
He turned me and sat me on the edge of the glass desk, and the glass was cold under me.
