Chestnut Street ran with coats and umbrellas all the way to the corner.
The woman with the brooch sat in a folding chair on the pavement, wrapped in lavender, with a flask.
I saw Mr. Eustis at the back, hat in his hand.
Next to him stood a woman in a plain gray dress who looked at the ground.
Imogen did not look up.
But she had come, and she stayed, and no one asked her to leave.
"Chair Orme," said Eustis, pitching his voice up the steps. "The board met at seven. It was unanimous."
