Chapter 4: Six O'Clock

Her footsteps went down the stairs, slow and even, and a door opened on the floor below.

Alex lay flat on his back and stared at the ceiling.

"She makes coffee in ten minutes," he said.

"Then she waits for the bread to cool."

"How long is that?" I asked.

"Long enough," he said, and turned his head.

His gray eyes were dark.

I was naked under his quilt, and I could still taste him.

I threw the quilt back and stood.

"Shower," I said. "Now."

"She'll expect you in the pledge room."

"She'll expect me clean."

I walked into his bathroom without looking back and turned on the water.

The shower was small and tiled in white, with a glass door and a hot, strong spray.

I stepped in and stood under it with my face turned up.

The glass door opened behind me, and Alex came in and shut it.

He was naked, and he was hard again, and he did not touch me.

"Turn around," I said.

He turned to face me.

Water ran over his shoulders and down his chest.

It ran down the flat of his stomach to where his cock stood out, thick and flushed.

I picked up the soap, worked it between my palms, and wrapped my hand around him.

He hissed through his teeth and put both hands flat on the tile on either side of my head.

"Ariadne."

"You didn't come inside me last night," I said.

"No."

"I've wanted that since the storm."

I stroked him slowly, root to tip, with the soap slick between my hand and his skin.

His hips jerked into my fist.

"Then stop talking about it," he said hoarsely.

His hands came down to my waist.

He kissed me.

It was a long, deep, wet kiss under the running water, and I felt it in my knees.

I let go of him, and he turned me.

My front was against the tile and my back was against the heat of his chest.

The tile was cold.

His body was hot.

I gasped at the difference.

"On my side it hurts my back," I said. "From behind, so I can brace."

"Like this?"

"Just like this."

I put both palms flat on the wet wall.

He stood close behind me, and his hand came around to spread over the curve of my stomach.
