Campus Saga: Superpower Teen novel · Chapter 24 of 24
Chapter 24: Spring
Commencement fell on the second Saturday in May, and the whole campus came out to the quad for it.
Folding chairs stood in rows to the edge of the fountain.
Families in sundresses and ties fanned themselves with programs, and the founder's bronze coat was wreathed with a green garland.
I sat in the fourth row in a suit I had bought with my first paycheck from the company.
My roommate sat on one side of me and the redhead on the other.
My roommate was filming the stage.
"Somebody has to," he said.
The dean read names from a podium in her reading glasses and her long black gown.
"Adrienne Merrick," she said, "Bachelor of Business Administration, summa cum laude."
I stood up before I meant to.
Adrienne crossed the stage in her cap and tassel with her gray eyes fixed straight ahead, and she took her diploma without smiling.
Then she found me in the fourth row, and she smiled with her whole face.
