Reyna's POV
Four hundred people had been invited to the grand opening of the Tower, and by seven o'clock nine of them had come.
Levi and I walked in last.
I wore the red dress from the Ball, because it was the only thing I owned that was meant to be looked at.
He wore the black tux.
The lobby had a new banner over the old one.
TERRELL PLACE, it said, in gold letters four feet high, over a marble floor that had been mopped for a crowd.
Three hundred and ninety-one glasses of champagne stood on silver trays, going flat.
A string quartet played to a fern.
Bishop Terrell stood in the center of the room with a glass in his hand and a smile that had been up for an hour.
"Levi," he said. "Mrs. Kellum. I'm so glad you could come."
"It's Ybarra," I said.
"Of course it is."
I slid my hand around Levi's back and hooked my thumb into the waistband of his trousers, and felt him breathe in.
