Chapter 18: No End Date

On Sunday he woke me by taking both my wrists in one hand and laying them above my head on the pillow.

"Keep them there," Jesse said.

The window was gray with early light, and a rooster was going off somewhere down the lane.

I lay naked under the quilt with my hands stretched over the iron rail.

He had a week of not hurrying in him, and it showed.

"I haven't got my eyes open," I said.

"You don't need them."

He pulled the quilt down slowly, past my breasts, past my stomach, until it lay in a heap at my knees.

The cold air made my nipples tighten.

"There," he said. "That's the first thing I want to look at."

He looked for a long time.

Then he bent and took one nipple between his lips and sucked it, soft, soft, a little harder.

He was in no hurry.

He moved it in slow lazy strokes, in and out, with his thumb resting on my clit and not moving at all.

His mouth went to my other breast.
