Chapter 16: The Side Deal
The control room at the base of the stand was a concrete box with six monitors and a coffee maker.
It also held a printer that nobody had touched in a year.
Dinah sat in front of it with a stack of paper on her knees.
Her face was gray under the freckles.
"It came through at four," she said.
"Out of nowhere. The stand's network is separate, and somebody's lawyer sent a print job to the wrong queue."
"Whose lawyer?"
"Read the header."
I took the top sheet.
EXHIBIT F. CONSULTING AND RESTRICTIVE COVENANT AGREEMENT. TAVISH DEFENSE LLC AND GRADY HARTUNG AND LORNA HARTUNG.
"Consulting," I said.
"Keep going."
It was a thick stack of dense type.
The services section said, in full, "Consultant shall make himself or herself available as reasonably requested."
The payment section was more specific.
Fifteen million dollars to each of them, due the day the sale closed.
