The garden was full this time.
Every white chair had someone in it.
Tusk & Trail's big donors had been flown in for the finale, in linen and sunhats, holding little programs with Duchess on the cover.

Cameras on tracks. A camera on a crane. A red light on every one of them.
A girl with a headset counted down from the terrace.
"Live in five. Four."
I stood at the top of the terrace steps in Darlene's white silk and my barn boots.
The producer had seen the boots and laughed and said keep them.
Darlene sat in the front row on the aisle, in pearls, with the trust's lawyer beside her and a folder on his knees.
She didn't turn around.
Clyde was in the third row in a brown suit and a brand new green tie, the price tag still on the back.
Ramsey stood at the very back by the hedge, in a black shirt, no tie, his arms folded.
The sheriff stood next to him in plain clothes with two Rye police officers.
