Chapter 20: Your Turn

"I've written a list," Cassian said.

He said it from the middle of his own bed, in his own bedroom, with the lamp on and his phone in both hands.

Noah stopped in the doorway with his hoodie half off.

"Of what?"

"What I want. In order. I thought if I wrote it down I couldn't say sure to anything else."

"That's cheating."

"It's planning." Cassian cleared his throat. "Number one. I want to lead."

Noah's hoodie stopped where it was.

He looked at Cassian for a long moment, and then at the phone, and then at the retriever, who had followed them upstairs and was lying across the foot of the bed.

"Lead," Noah said.

"Tonight. For the whole thing. You said you liked hearing me ask. I'd like to try telling you."

"I've never been told what to do in bed by someone with notes."

"Is that a no?"

"It's a very long yes." Noah pulled the hoodie off over his head and dropped it. "Wait. Say why."

"Because I've watched you take care of everyone for a month, and I want to be the one who takes care of you."

Noah's face changed.

"Okay," he said, in a voice that wasn't dry at all. "That's a reason. That's a dollar I'm not charging you. Now what?"

Cassian put the phone down and stood up.

He was taller than Noah by two inches, and he had never once used it.

He crossed the room, put his hands on Noah's shoulders, and turned him gently around until his back was to the bed.

"Sit," he said.

Noah sat.

"Take your shirt off."

"I'm not wearing a shirt."

"Then take off the rest."

Noah laughed, startled, and did it. Jeans, socks, everything, dropped in a pile on the floorboards.

Cassian stood over him in his full cardigan, still buttoned, and felt his own pulse in his throat.

"Lie back," he said.

Noah lay back.

He was pale against the dark bedspread, flushed to the collarbone, and his cock lay hard against his stomach.
