Chapter 18: Rule Three Is Suspended

Naomi's POV

The front door of the Park Avenue house closed behind us, and the hall went quiet.

Marcello did not turn on the light.

He stood with his back against the door and his coat still on.

He looked at me as if I might change my mind.

"Say it again," he said. "So I know I heard it."

"Rule three is suspended until morning."

"Naomi."

"You've said my name four times tonight. Stop saying it and put your hands on me."

He crossed the hall in two steps.

His hands came up and framed my face, and they were shaking.

He kissed me like a man who had been told no for eight years.

I kissed him back hard.

My back hit the wall.

I dragged his coat off his shoulders and let it fall to the floor.

"Slower," he said against my mouth.

"No."

"I want to do this properly."

"You did it properly once, eight years ago. Then you left before I woke up."

He went still.

I took his lapel in my fist.

"Do it properly now," I said. "And don't leave."

"I won't."

He lifted me.

I locked my legs around his hips, and he carried me up the stairs with his mouth on my throat.

At the landing he stopped to kiss me again.

I felt how hard he was through his trousers, and my whole body answered.

"Your room," I said.

"The door at the end."

He kicked it open.

In eight years I had never once slept in that bed.

He set me down on it and stood over me in the dark, breathing hard.

I reached for his belt.

"Naomi, wait."

"No."

"Let me look at you."

"Look later."

I got the belt open, and then the trousers.

I wrapped my hand around his cock, and he groaned from low in his chest.

He was thick and hot and already wet at the tip.

I stroked him once, slowly, from the base to the head, and watched his face come apart.
