Chapter 7: Husband in Probation

Breakfast at the Su estate was at eight, and everyone came to it.

Su Yu came down in yesterday's trousers with a bite mark under his ear and a smile he could not get rid of.

Lu Chen came down two minutes later, buttoned to the throat, in a clean shirt, with his hair combed flat.

He carried a folder.

"Sit, sit," Mrs. Su said. "Su Yu, did you eat anything yesterday? Did the house manage without us?"

"It managed," Su Yu said. "Mama, I have to tell you something. I'm too happy to hold it."

Lu Chen shut his eyes.

"Last night, Lu Chen and I had sex," Su Yu said. "All night."

Nobody moved.

"It was my heat, and he came in when I told him to go. He was so good. I came six times, I think it was six, and in the end"

"Su Yu," the Chairman said, in a very quiet voice. "I am eating."

"It's a good story, Dad."

"I am eating."

Mrs. Su pressed both hands to her cheeks.

"He stayed," she said, with shining eyes. "He didn't let you be alone."

"He didn't let me go."

The Chairman put his chopsticks down and looked at Lu Chen, who had opened his eyes and was sitting very straight.

"Mr. Lu," he said. "Is this true?"

"Every word of it is accurate, Chairman," Lu Chen said. "Except the number. It was seven."

Mrs. Su laughed so hard she had to hold the table.

Lu Chen opened the folder.

He took out four stapled pages and set them between the congee and the pickles.

He turned them around so that they faced the Chairman.

"Before anyone says anything more, I have a proposal," he said. "I wrote it at dawn on the study computer. Please forgive the printer."

The top page said, Husband in Probation: An Agreement.
