Chapter 9: The Tie
"Give me your wrists," Jud said.
Yancey lay in the middle of the grey bed with his shirt open and his tie in Jud's hand.
It was the blue one, the cheap one, with a small stain on the knot that had never come out.
"That's my tie," he said.
"I know whose it is."
"You said you'd buy me ten."
"I did. I will." Jud knelt on the mattress beside him. "Tonight I want this one."
"Why?"
"Because you wore it the first day." Jud took Yancey's wrists and crossed them over his head. "I thought about it all week."
The silk was cool and thin.
Jud wound it twice around, and looped it through the iron rail of the headboard, and tied it off with a quick sure knot.
He tested it with a tug.
"Too tight?"
"No," Yancey said.
"Say if it is."
"It's not."
"Good." Jud sat back on his heels. "Look at me."
Yancey looked.
The lamp was low.
Jud was in his shirtsleeves still, and the sleeves were rolled, and his eyes moved slowly over the whole length of the bed.
"You asked for it on Thursday," Jud said. "You took the lead, and you made me sit on my hands."
"You liked it."
"I loved it." His voice was calm. "Now it's my turn to make you wait."
Yancey shivered.
Jud lowered his head and kissed him, soft and wet, a long tease of a kiss that left him chasing.
He pulled back every time Yancey lifted into it.
"Jud."
"I'm not done," Jud said.
"You've barely started."
"That's the point." Jud unbuttoned the rest of the shirt and spread it. "I'm going to take my time."
His mouth went down Yancey's throat.
It found the pulse and sucked on it, and moved over the collarbone and the freckled shoulder, and traced a slow path to his nipple.
