Chapter 8: The Count
"I counted," Jamie said, and shut the door of the primary suite behind him. "It's been six days."
Roman sat up in bed with a script in his hand.
The lamp was on, and his henley was off, and the scar ran down his shoulder to the middle of the left pectoral.
"Hendry. It's two in the morning."
"I know what time it is."
"You're meant to be in the east wing."
"Wings are a suggestion."
"They are the arrangement."
"I'm very sorry," Jamie said, crossing the room, "but I'd like to remind you of the arrangement. One heat, nothing outside it. That was the deal. So how many heats have we had since Tuesday?"
"None."
"Then Tuesday was free, wasn't it?"
Roman said nothing at all.
His eyes went down Jamie's body and up again.
Jamie wore a pair of boxers and his grey hoodie, and nothing else.
He pulled the hoodie off over his head and dropped it.
"You said it didn't count," he said. "So I'm here to find out what does."
He climbed onto the bed on his knees, and put both hands on Roman's chest, and pushed.
Roman went down on the pillows without a fight.
The script slid off the mattress.
"I'm not going to stop you," Roman said, low.
"Good. Don't."
"I'm saying I could."
"I know you could," Jamie said, and settled across his hips. "Which is why it's so nice when you don't."
He took the big hands from the sheet, one at a time, and pinned them above Roman's head.
Roman looked up at him, and the look went straight through Jamie's ribs.
It was hunger so naked it was painful.
"Tell me if you want me to let go," Jamie said.
"I don't."
"Then keep them there."
He leaned down and kissed him.
It was slower than the first kiss, deeper and more patient, and it landed full on Roman's mouth.
Roman groaned, and his hips pushed up against Jamie's ass, and the hard length of him through the sweatpants rubbed exactly where it should.
