Chapter 16: Tristan's Offer
Micah read the notice twice before he understood what it said.
It named a hearing, a court order and a seizure date, and the address at the bottom was Astrid's aunt's flat.
"Who knows this place?" Ansel asked from the doorway.
He wore the quilt around his waist and nothing else.
"Astrid," Micah said. "And Tristan."
"Why Tristan?"
"Because he came to dinner here twice, back when..."
A car door shut in the street.
Micah went to the window.
Tristan stood on the sidewalk beside a black sedan, in a camel coat, with a coffee in each hand.
Around him, the men from the fish market were unloading crates off a truck, and two of them had stopped to watch.
"I'll go down," Micah said.
"I'll come."
"You don't have to."
"I know," Ansel said. "That's why I'm coming."
