The extraordinary general meetings were set for nine the next morning.

By ten that night, there was nothing left to prepare.

Ji-ho had gone home, Se-ra had gone to a hotel to sleep, and the lawyers had sent their last paper.

In the glass house in Hannam-dong, the lights were low.

Do-yoon stood in the bedroom doorway with his hand on the frame.

Jae-wook was on the bed with a book open on his chest, in a faded grey shirt, and he looked up with that crooked smile.

"You've stopped pacing," he said.

"I've run out of floor."

"Come to bed."

Do-yoon didn't move.

"Tomorrow I walk into a room with three hundred people in it," he said.

"Every one of them will want something from me. A vote, a promise, a face."

"I know."

"I'll be in charge of all of it. I'll be in charge of everything again."

His voice was even.

He had practiced it.

"I'd like one night where I'm not."

Jae-wook closed the book and set it down.

Very slowly, he sat up.

"Say what you mean, Doyoon-ah."

"I want you to own me. Tonight. Just tonight."

Do-yoon's face burned, but he looked straight at Jae-wook.

"I want you to tell me what to do, and not ask. I want to do it."

Jae-wook's eyes went black.

For a moment he didn't speak.

Then he reached into the drawer of the nightstand and took out a necktie.
