"The full truth," Gwen said. "About you. From her."
"Let her," Boone said behind me.
We both turned around.
He was standing in the bedroom doorway in his jeans, bare-chested, holding his coffee.
"She wants a big screen," he said. "Good. So do we."
Gwen looked at him, and then at me in his shirt.
"I take it back," she said. "I like him."

Wexler held Heroes of the Ice in the grand ballroom of the Fairmont Olympic.
The same hotel where the wedding would have been.
I don't think Amber noticed.
I noticed.
The ballroom had three chandeliers, a thousand guests and an ice sculpture of a penguin that was melting onto the shrimp.
Every table wore black tie except table four.
Table four was the winter crew, and Gwen had dressed them out of three thrift stores and a tuxedo rental in Tacoma.
The power plant guy's jacket was two sizes too big.
The cook had worn his glove, a white one, because he said it was formal now.
The carpenter's daughter sat beside him in a green dress with her welding certificate folded in her purse, in case anybody asked.
