Chapter 7: Sleeping Beauty

Jude's bedroom smelled like cedar and clean laundry.

He set me down on the edge of his bed and stood between my knees.

A desk lamp threw a little gold light across the room.

I could see everything.

I could see his bare chest, the compass on his ribs and the way his hands were not quite steady.

"I've wanted this since your brother's graduation," he said.

"You were eighteen in May, and I told myself to leave it alone."

"You waited," I said.

"For you to turn out to be an adult who'd ask?" He almost smiled.

"I'm not proud of it."

"Shut up," I said, and pulled him down.

We kissed until my lips felt swollen.

He pulled my T-shirt over my head and sat back to look.

I wasn't wearing anything underneath, because I'd come out of the shower and straight to bed.

I felt my face heat, and I almost covered myself.

"Don't," he said.

His voice was raw.

"Lucinda, look at you."

He put his hand on my breast, a big warm palm, and his thumb dragged across my nipple.

I gasped and arched into him.

"Good?" he said.

"Yes."

"Tell me more."

"Don't stop," I said.

He bent his head and took my nipple in his mouth.

He sucked, slow and hot, while his other hand teased the second one, and a bolt of heat shot straight down between my legs.

I threaded my fingers through his hair and held on.

"Jude," I said.

"I'm here."

"I'm so wet."

The sound he made was almost a growl.

He pushed me back on the mattress and hooked his fingers in my sleep shorts and dragged them down my legs.

He knelt on the floor between my thighs and put his hands under my knees and opened me wide.

"Look at that," he said.

"God, look at you."

"Jude, please."

"Please what?"

"Put your mouth on me."

He did.

His tongue went slow and flat over my clit, and my hips came off the bed.

He held me down with one forearm across my stomach and licked me again.

The long hot strokes pulled a cry out of my chest.

I bit my own hand to stay quiet.

He pulled it away.

"Let me hear you," he said, against my thigh.
