Chapter 13: Ask Me

The kiss didn't end.

It went on against the counter, with his hands under my sweater and my fists still in his shirt.

I had meant to hit him again.

I pulled the shirt up over his head instead, and dropped it on the floor.

His chest was harder than I remembered, and there was a new scar low on his ribs.

I put my mouth on it.

He made a rough sound and his hand closed in my hair.

"Hallie."

"Ms. Corrigan," I said against his skin. "Those are the terms."

"You broke them first."

"Then I'll break them again."

I walked him backward until his spine met the refrigerator.

He let me.

That was the part that undid me, that a man who could pin my wrist before I saw him move was letting me.

I found the buckle of his belt, and the holster on it.

"Take it off," I said.

He unclipped the gun and set it on top of the refrigerator, out of reach.

"Careful, Ms. Corrigan," he said, and his voice shook with something that was almost a laugh. "That's a touch."

"Agent Shaw," I said. "Shut up."

I opened his jeans.

He was hard already, hot in my hand, heavier than I had let myself remember.

I stroked him once, slowly, and watched his head fall back against the freezer door.

Then I went down on my knees on my own kitchen tile and took him in my mouth.

"Fuck," he said. "Hallie. Fuck."

I had thought about this for four years, and I took my time.

I took him deep and slow, and when he tried to hold still I looked up at him and hummed around his cock until his hips jerked.

His hands shook in my hair.

"Stop," he said. "Stop, or I'm not going to last."

"Good."

"I want to be inside you."
