Chapter 15: Not Allies

I walked back across the street and knocked on his window.

He rolled it down, and the heater's warm air spilled out over my face.

"You were right about the key," I said.

"Hallie, I shouldn't have."

"You were right. I'm still angry at you. Both things are true."

"Okay."

"Take me home."

He looked at me for a long moment, and then he leaned over and opened the passenger door.

I showed him the video at his kitchen island, with his coat still on his shoulders and my phone between us.

He watched the clip without blinking.

"She'll post it," he said. "She'll say I'm sleeping with your whole sad story."

"Let her."

"It could cost me the C."

"Then it costs you the C." I took the phone out of his hand and set it face down. "I'm not thinking about her right now."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Your kitchen."

He didn't move.

I took hold of his coat by both lapels and walked him backward until his shoulders hit the refrigerator.

A magnet fell off and skittered under the stove.

"Allies," he said, rough.

"Allies don't talk during this. Shut up."

I kissed him hard.

His hands went to my hips, and I put them against the door on either side of his head.

"Leave them there."

"Yes, ma'am."

I unbuckled his belt slowly, watching his face.

I dropped to my knees on his cold tile floor and took him out of his jeans.

He was already hard, heavy in my hand, and when I put my mouth around the head of his cock, he swore at the ceiling.

"Hallie."

I took him deeper.

I let my tongue drag along the underside of him, and I felt his thighs go tight under my palms.
