It took Tomoya forty minutes to get to Koenji.
He walked half of it.
He rang the bell on the third floor, and the door opened before he had taken his finger off it.
Ren stood in the hallway in a creased white shirt.
His glasses were gone. His eyes were red.
Behind him the Hot Morning poster hung on its four tacks, a little curled, a little faded, the dawn bright on the wall.
"Tomoya."
"I read it."
"I know. I saw it open."
"You deleted the account."
"You shouldn't have had to do it."
"Shut up." Tomoya stepped across the threshold. "You don't get to decide what I'll take from you in daylight. Not you. Not anyone."
Ren's mouth opened.
Tomoya shut the door behind him with his heel and took Ren by the shirt.
"I'm angry," he said.
"I know."
"I want to say that first. I'm so angry I can hardly see."
"You should be."
"You watched me in that stairwell, and then you spent six years never once telling me."
"I didn't know how."
"I know you didn't." Tomoya's voice shook. "That's why I'm going to be angry and I'm going to do this anyway."
