My Roommate Slept Down the Hall, So the Billionaire Made Me Hush novel · Chapter 1 of 24
Chapter 1: The Kitchen Island
At 2 a.m. Anders pins Teddy against the kitchen island with his roommate asleep ten feet away, and Maddie's door opens.
"Have you ever been fucked with your roommate asleep down the hall?"
Anders said it against Teddy's ear, and his hand dropped the towel to the kitchen floor.
Teddy stood naked against the counter, hard before he could stop it, and the whole dark apartment was listening.
"Ten feet," Anders said. "That's her door. Tell me you can be quiet."
"I can be quiet," Teddy whispered.
Anders took Teddy's cock in his fist and stroked it once, slow, from the base to the wet tip.
Teddy's head hit the cabinet behind him.
Two hours ago he had been carrying a bus tub through the pub.
A stranger in a dark wool coat had set a card on his tray.
The card said Holmgren Mills, and under it, in pen, a street address that was Teddy's own.
He had stood there with the tub going heavy in his hands.
The man was thirty-four and six foot four, with pale hair gone silver at the temples and a face that never moved without a reason.
Everyone in Minneapolis knew that face from the business pages and the party photos, and nobody had ever seen it in a Dinkytown pub.
"Your balance at the bursar is fourteen thousand six hundred dollars," the man had said in a flat, polite voice. "Registration closes Monday, Mr. Gallagher. Your anonymous gift stopped in August."
Teddy had not told one person about the gift.
"How do you know that?"
"I know what I'm willing to pay for," the man said. "I'll pay it tonight. You'll tell me where to find you after your shift."
It was the stupidest, hottest, most insulting offer Teddy had ever heard.
He had told the man exactly where to find him.
Now Anders Holmgren had a key code he should not have had, a coat he hadn't taken off, and Teddy's cock in his hand.
"Mr. Holmgren," Teddy breathed.
"Anders, when I'm touching you. Mr. Holmgren when I'm not." He turned his wrist, and Teddy bit his own lip so hard it stung. "The bill is paid. Check your email."
"I believe you."
"You should check."
"I believe you, and I'm saying yes anyway." Teddy's voice was a thread. "I'm saying yes because you're good at this."
A low sound came out of the man's chest.
It was almost a laugh, and Teddy felt it against his neck, warm, a vibration in his spine.
"You talk too much for someone who promised quiet."
"I'm trying," Teddy said.
"Try harder," Anders said.
Anders put his free hand over Teddy's mouth.
It was a big hand, dry and warm, and it covered Teddy from the nose to the chin.
Teddy had never been held like that in his life.
He had expected to hate it.
His hips jerked into the fist around him instead, and he made a muffled, humiliating sound into the palm.
"There," Anders said, almost gently. "That's the sound I wanted."
He worked Teddy faster, and the wet slap of it was far too loud in the dark kitchen.
Teddy looked down the hall at Maddie's closed door, with the thin line of black under it and the box fan whirring behind.
He had slept in her bed a hundred times.
She was ten feet from his cock and a stranger's hand, and she didn't know.
It should have scared him.
It made his balls draw up tight.
"Look at me," Anders said.
Teddy looked.
The man's grey eyes were calm and fully awake, and they stayed on his face, reading every flicker.
"You like this," Anders said.
Teddy nodded against his palm.
"You like not being allowed to make a sound."
Teddy's whole body answered before his mouth could, a hard shudder from his thighs to his shoulders.
"I thought so. Spread your legs."
Teddy spread them.
Two thick fingers touched his lips, over the hand, and Anders took the hand away just long enough to push them in.
"Wet them."
Teddy sucked them, slowly, with his eyes on that steady gaze, and the fingers pressed down on his tongue.
They came out slick and went lower.
When the first one circled his hole he went up on his toes.
"Quiet," Anders said, and the palm came back over his mouth. "Breathe through your nose. I'm going to put one finger in you, Gallagher, and you're going to take it standing up."
It went in slowly and it burned.
It was deep, thick, patient, and Teddy's knees nearly went.
His hand shot out and grabbed the front of that expensive coat.
"Good," Anders said into his hair. "Hold on to me."
The finger curled, found something, and pressed.
Teddy's eyes rolled shut.
A sound tore out of him against the palm, a long high whine, and he heard it travel down the hall.
Anders went still.
Teddy went still.
Far down the hall, a bed creaked.
The fan stopped.
Anders's finger didn't leave him, and the other hand did not move from his mouth.
"Don't move," Anders said, so quietly the air barely carried it.
A door handle turned.
A line of yellow light cut across the hallway floor and began to widen toward the kitchen.
Teddy's heart slammed against his ribs.
He had a roommate who might see everything, a stranger's finger buried in him, and fourteen thousand dollars he could not give back.
Anders's eyes asked him one question, and it wasn't "Should I stop?"
It was "How much do you want this?"
Teddy bit the heel of the palm over his mouth, hard.
Then he curled his hand around the back of Anders's neck and pulled him in.
"Don't you dare stop," he breathed into the skin.
