Three hundred people came to watch Reuben Hallam get married, and every one of them sat down on a borrowed church pew.
The Pavilion looked like a magazine.
White roses, which I had not made, climbed the arch.
The runner was ivory silk, the river was gold through the glass, and a string quartet played something slow in the corner.
Alistair and I sat in the front pew on the left, under his brass plaque.
I wore the green silk my sister had returned, and the gold band was not on my hand.
