Chapter 11: The Door Closes

Emi kept her hand where it was, on the first button, and Kokone covered it with her own.

"Don't stop," Kokone said again. "Please."

"Look at me."

Kokone looked.

Her eyes were wet and wide and absolutely certain.

"I want this," she said. "I want it with you. Nobody sent me, nobody's watching, and nobody's getting paid. Just me."

Emi undid the button.

Then the next, slowly, with her mouth following her fingers.

The shirt fell open, and Kokone shivered in the warm room.

Her skin was the color of cream, with a flush of pink along the breastbone.

Emi kissed it.

Kokone's hand found the back of her neck and held on.

"You're shaking," she whispered.

"So are you."

"I'm not shaking. I'm just, I'm very, ah."

Emi's mouth closed over her breast, and the sentence broke into pieces.

She took her time.

She learned the weight of Kokone's breast in her palm.

She learned the way her ribs jumped when she was kissed there, and the small sounds in her throat.

Kokone's heels slid on the sheet.

"Emi. Emi."

"I'm here."

"Take that off."

"Which?"

"All of it. Yours too. I want to feel you."

Emi laughed, low and unsteady, and pulled her undershirt off.

The air hit her skin, and then Kokone's hands did, flat and warm and eager over her stomach, her ribs, up.

Emi's head fell back.

"You're soft," Kokone said, awed. "I thought you'd be, I don't know. All angles."

"I'm angles in the places you can't see."
