Chapter 20: What He Gave Up

Anson's POV

She came at me the second the front door shut.

Ivy backed me down the hall of her mother's house with both fists in my lapels.

"Stop thinking about tomorrow," she said.

"I wasn't."

"You were. I can hear you doing it."

I caught her wrists.

She looked up at me with that gap-toothed grin I could not resist.

"All right," I said. "Then I'm going to do the thinking."

I picked her up under the thighs and carried her up the stairs.

She laughed the whole way, with her arms around my neck.

In the bedroom, I set her on the edge of the bed and knelt.

I took off her shoes.

I took off the green dress inch by inch.

I kissed every place that came uncovered, the inside of each knee and the soft skin under her ribs.

She watched me with her lip caught in her teeth.

"You're slow," she said.

"I am."

"You said you wouldn't be."

"I said I'd do the thinking."

I put my mouth on her through her underwear until she arched.

Then I pulled it down her legs and put my mouth on her properly.

She tasted of salt and of the soap from her bath.

I licked her, long and slow, and I felt her thighs shake against my ears.

She gripped my hair and pulled, and I let her take what she wanted.

"Anson," she said. "Please."

It was the first time she had begged me for anything.

I felt it, deep in my chest.

I made her come on my tongue with her heels digging into my back.

When she was done I climbed up her body and kissed her, so she could taste herself.

"Now," she said. "Now. I want you now."

I braced above her and pushed into her in one slow stroke.

She wrapped her legs around my waist and held me there, hot and tight and wet around my cock.
