Chapter 20: A Table With a Cloth

Leigh's POV

Ellis parked at the courthouse on Monday morning and did not turn off the engine.

"Say it out loud once," he said.

"What?"

"The plan. So you know it's yours."

I looked at the folder on my lap.

It held the settlement agreement, the one my lawyer had redrawn over the weekend.

My signature on the petition had been dry since October.

This was the page that would end it, and it carried Jamie's calendar.

"Jamie lives with me one week and with Miles the next," I said.

"You told Jamie he could pick his room there," I said.

"I told him he could pick it from a list of rooms with no history," Ellis said.

"I'm not asking you to live where she did. I changed every lock last week, and the study is empty. I'd sell it tomorrow if you said so."

"I don't want you to sell it."

"Leigh."
