Chapter 22: My Lock

I locked the door myself.

The guest room had a heavy bolt on the inside, and I turned it with both hands until it clicked.

Ewan watched me from the middle of the floor.

He had taken off his boots. He had not taken off anything else.

"Rule three," he said, low. "The door stays unlocked."

"It's my rule."

"It is."

"I'm amending it."

I pulled the key from the lock and held it up between two fingers.

Then I walked across the room and dropped it down the front of his shirt.

His eyes went dark.

"Then keep it," I said. "You're the one who has to ask me to open it."

He laughed, a short rough sound, and caught my wrist.

"Come here, little wolf."

I came.

He kissed me against the bedpost, and the bite on my neck throbbed with every beat of his heart.

I could feel his mark on me, and I could feel mine on him, a second pulse that wasn't mine.

My knees went.

"I've got you," he said into my mouth.

"I know. Take your shirt off."

He did, one-handed, and the key fell out of it and rang on the floor.

I put my palms on his bare chest and pushed.

He went back onto the bed without a word.

He lay propped on his elbows, looking up at me, his chest rising fast.

"Every rule's gone," I said. "Say what you want."

"Everything."

"Be specific."

"I want your mouth." He swallowed. "I want to put mine on you till you can't stand."

His voice dropped.

"Then I want you on my cock, and I want to watch your face while you take it."

My whole body went hot.

"Start with the second one," I said.

I pulled my sweater over my head.

He was off the bed before the wool hit the floor.

He took me by the hips and laid me back across the quilt.

He knelt on the rug between my knees.

He stripped the rest of my clothes away slowly, with his eyes on my face.
