Chapter 15: The Stall

Katja's POV

Taras was still in his goalie pads when I locked the shower stall behind us.

The Bridgemen had clinched the playoffs at home that Saturday, the twenty-eighth of March, with a four to one win over Moose Jaw.

The building was still on its feet on the other side of the wall, stamping and chanting his name.

"Wall! Wall! Wall!"

It came through the cinder block and into my ribs.

"They love you," I said.

"They love my glove hand." He grinned down at me, sweat dripping off his curls. "You love the rest."

February had come and gone, and the twenty-eighth with it.

The owner had sent nothing, and Abram said that was the loudest he had ever been.

Brent's follow-up never ran, and none of us trusted why.

But tonight the four had won, and I had a seat behind the glass again, and I was done thinking.

Anders stood against the tile with his jersey off and his skates still laced, red in the face from the ice.

The captain and Garnet were out front with the cameras, which left Taras and Anders with me.

"The coach is in the hall," Anders said. "He knows you're here. He said he didn't see anything."

"Then he doesn't see this," I said.

I pulled Abram's captain's jersey over my head, the one he had given me to wear that night, and let it drop.

My breasts were already leaking through my bra.
