The Chaebol Family Drowned Me, So This Time I Wrote the Contract novel · Chapter 24 of 24
Chapter 24: The Tent
In April the cherry trees along the river bloomed, and the rail on Banpo Bridge was new and bright.
I stopped at the top of the span, where the brakes had gone.
Tae-seong stopped beside me.
Below us the Han ran gray-green and ordinary, with a tour boat drawing a white line across it.
A boy on a bicycle rang his bell and passed behind us, whistling.
"All right?" Tae-seong said.
"Yes."
"If it stops being all right..."
"I'll tell you." I put my hand on the rail. It was cold and smooth. "I was afraid I'd feel the water."
"And?"
"I feel the sun."
He took my hand off the rail and kept it.
We walked down to the other end together, slowly, with the wind pulling at my hair.
The stall was open, as it always was, with the orange walls glowing against the blossoms.
The ajumma saw us from a hundred steps away and began to bang the ladle against the pot.
"They come!" she announced to the whole river. "Late, as usual! Sit!"
"The old lady has been here an hour and has insulted my kimchi twice!"
