Chapter 14: The High Cabin
Emmett had me against the log wall of the ridge cabin before I got the saddlebag off my shoulder.
I had ridden four hours up the switchbacks on Dutch's gray mare to find him.
The sun was barely over the rim, and the porch boards were wet with dew.
He took the saddlebag and threw it down the steps.
"You came up here," he said.
"You left."
"I had cattle to see to."
"You had a truck to run away in," I said.
He made a sound in his throat that was not a word.
Then his mouth came down on mine, hard and furious, and I grabbed two fistfuls of his coat and kissed him back.
My spine hit the logs.
His hands went under my jacket and found my breasts, rough through my shirt.
He pushed the shirt up with his thumbs and put his mouth on one nipple and bit.
I cried out.
The sound went off across the empty slope and did not come back.
"Say it," he said.
"Say what?"
"Ma'am. Owner. Whatever it is you are."
"I'm Jess," I said.
"I'm the woman who got off your sofa and into your lap, and I'm the one who didn't tell you. Be angry. I'll take it."
"I am angry," he said.
"Good. Do something about it."
He tore my belt open.
He shoved my jeans and underwear down to my boots, and I kicked one leg free.
He caught that knee in the crook of his elbow and pinned it high against the wall.
My other foot barely held the porch.
His free hand opened his jeans.
His cock came out thick and flushed and already wet at the tip, and he rubbed it once through my folds, hard, and I shook.
"Till the bridge is back," I said, through my teeth.
