Chapter 21: Claw-Foot
"Yes," I said, into Emmett's gray hair.
"Yes. I'm staying. Get up off that floor."
He rose, and kissed my belly one last time.
When he looked at me his eyes were clear for the first time since the flood.
Dutch had already turned the taps on the claw-foot tub.
Water thundered into the porcelain, and steam climbed the cold white walls.
Nels set a bar of lye soap and a washcloth on the rim.
"Everybody in," I said.
"Jess, there's no room," said Emmett.
"Make room."
They stripped in a hurry, with their boots in a pile by the door and their shirts on the floor.
Three bodies came out of the work clothes, lean and huge and wiry, scarred and gray and flushed, and every one of them was hard.
I stepped into the water first.
It was hot enough to sting.
I sank down in it with a groan, and Dutch lowered himself in behind me, and the water rose to the rim and slopped over.
He leaned back against the sloped end of the tub, and I leaned back against him.
My head lay on his chest, and his knees were on either side of me.
His cock lay thick against the small of my back.
Nels got in at the other end.
He took my feet in his lap.
Emmett knelt on the bath mat outside the tub with the soap in his hand.
"Close your eyes," he said.
I closed them.
He worked the washcloth into a lather and drew it across my collarbones, slow, then across my shoulders, then down.
He soaped my breasts in circles.
He did it with his bare hands, after he dropped the cloth.
His rough fingers slid slick over my nipples until I arched and the water slapped the walls.
Below the surface Nels's thumbs dug into the arches of my feet.
