Chapter 3: The Hayloft

Jesse spanks her in the hayloft and gives her the filthy name she asked for; Colt waits at the bottom of the ladder with her shoes.

The ladder to the hayloft had twelve rungs, and I climbed them barefoot with my underwear in another man's vest pocket.

Colt stayed at the bottom with my shoes in his hand.

"I'll be right here," he said.

"You're not coming up?"

"You asked for him. I'm just the ride."

I looked down at him past my own knees, with his shirt buttoned wrong and the dust of the barn floor on his boots.

I laughed because I could not help it.

Then I climbed into the dark.

The loft smelled like hay and warm wood and the leftover beer from somebody's cooler.

Jesse had hung a work light from a nail, turned low, and the hay bales around it threw long shadows up the rafters.

He was sitting on a bale in his shirtsleeves with his vest folded beside him, and he stood up too fast.

His ears were red already.

"I saw," he said. "From the door. I'm sorry."

"Are you sorry?"

"Not very."

"Good," I said.

"I'm real sorry I watched," Jesse said, "and I'd do it again, and I don't know what to do with my hands."

I walked across the boards, and the hay prickled my feet.

I stopped close enough to feel the heat off his chest.

"Put them on me," I said.

He did.

He put both hands on my face, big and careful, and he kissed me gently, with his thumbs along my cheekbones.

It was a good kiss, a sweet one, a little clumsy.

Then I bit his bottom lip, not gently, and his hands closed in my hair and the clumsiness went out of him all at once.

He kissed me hard, backing me against a post.

I heard him breathing through his nose.

I felt him hard against my belly through his pants, and I rubbed against it and he groaned.

"You taste like Colt," he said, against my mouth.

"Is that a problem?"

"No, ma'am."

"Then why'd you say it?" I asked.

"Because it's the hottest thing that's ever happened to me," Jesse said, and his ears went dark red.

I took his belt in my fingers.

"Have you done this before?"

"Done what?"

"Anything," I said.

"Lacey," he said, wounded. "I'm twenty-two."

"That's not an answer."

"I've done plenty."

"Is that right?" I said.

He grinned, and the bashful boy at the table came back for one second and went out of his face.

"Is that right," Jesse said, flat, and picked me up.

He carried me three steps and sat down on the nearest bale, and put me across his lap on my stomach.

My dress rode up.

I had no underwear on, and I felt his breath catch when he saw it.

"Lacey," he said.

"Yes?"

"Colt spanked you."

"Twice. Three times," I said.

"I saw the mark."

"Give me yours," I said.

His palm settled flat on the curve of my ass, warm and heavy.

"Count with me," he said.

"What?"

"I'll count. You tell me when."

The first one was light.

It cracked anyway in the empty loft, and my breath went out of me.

"One."

"Harder."

"Two," Jesse said.

That one landed on the same place Colt's handprint was fading, and the sting went right through me.

"Three."

"Harder."

"Is that right?" Jesse murmured, and I could hear him smiling.

He put some weight behind the fourth.

I yelped, and the sound went out into the rafters, and a barn swallow shifted in the beams.

"Four."

"Again."

"Five, six," Jesse said.

The words came out of him in a steadier voice with each one, and by seven he wasn't shy at all.

He rubbed my skin with his palm between the blows, and it was hot and tender.

I was grinding my hips into his thigh without any shame.

"Look how wet you are," Jesse said, with his hand low on me, his fingers sliding. "You're soaked on my leg."

"Eight," I said.

"That's my line."

"Eight, Jesse," I said.

"Yes, ma'am."

He gave me eight and nine and ten, and they were hard and sharp and exact.

I was crying out with every one and rocking against him.

"Harder," I said. "Harder. I can take it."

"I know you can."

He did.

He spanked me until my whole backside was one hot throb.

The pain had melted into something so bright and deep that I was gasping into the hay.

I felt it circling low in my belly.

I felt how badly I wanted it to go on.

"Tell me," Jesse said, softly. "What do you want?"

I couldn't say it.

I had wanted it for years, all through my marriage, and every time I'd opened my mouth my husband had said I was too much.

I turned my face against the burlap of the bale.

"Lacey."

"Call me what the card calls me."

His hand stopped.

"Say it," I said. "Please. Say what he wrote."

He was quiet for one long beat.

"Plus nobody," Jesse said.

My whole body jumped.

"Again."

"Plus nobody."

"More," I said.

I heard him swallow.

He spread his hand on my red skin and held it there.

"Our dirty maid of honor," he said, low, in a voice I'd never heard out of that sweet face. "In a hayloft, with her dress up. Letting me. Wanting it."

"Yes."

"You like that."

"Yes. Yes. God," I said.

I came on his lap, with his fingers on me and his words in my ear.

I shuddered so hard that hay stuck to my cheek and my ankles kicked up in the air.

It was the best thing that had happened to me in three years.

It was worse than that.

It was the thing I'd needed, and I had said it out loud, and nobody had flinched.

He turned me over in his arms.

He looked down at me with his curls falling in his eyes and his mouth open.

"I didn't want to do anything wrong," he said.

"You didn't do a single thing wrong," I said, and pulled his face down.

He laid me back on the hay and took off his shirt.

I put my hands on his chest, which was broad and warm and covered in dark hair.

He pushed his pants down.

His cock sprang out hard against his belly, and I wrapped my hand around it, and he said "oh" in a small, surprised voice.

"Turn over," he said. "Please."

I turned.

I got up on my hands and knees in the hay with my dress bunched at my ribs and my red ass in the lamplight.

I heard him make a low, pained sound.

"I'm going to look at you for a second," Jesse said.

"Then you're going to fuck me."

"Is that right?"

"That's an order," I said.

He laughed breathlessly.

He put one hand on my hip, and the other guided himself.

He nudged the head against me, once, twice, and I pushed back against it.

"Jesse."

"I know."

He slid in.

It was slow, deep, and so full that the breath left me in a rush.

He stopped halfway, shaking, with both hands gripping my hips.

"Don't stop," I said.

"I'm not going to stop."

He pushed the rest of the way and bottomed out against my sore ass, and the stinging pressed in on every nerve.

He groaned.

"You're so tight," Jesse said. "Lacey. You feel so good."

"Move."

He moved.

He fucked me slow at first, in long strokes, with the hay rustling under my knees and the old boards groaning.

Then he found a rhythm, steady and hard, his hips slapping against my sore backside with every thrust.

Each one sent a sharp bright shock up through the heat.

I put my forehead on the bale and held on.

"Spank me," I said.

"Now?"

"Now."

He slapped my right cheek with his open hand, and I cried out into the hay.

"Again."

"Plus nobody," he said, and spanked the left.

"Again."

"Dirty girl," Jesse said, and the words came out of him wicked and gentle together, and I clenched so hard on his cock that he swore.

"That one's yours," I said. "Keep that one."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Don't you dare slow down."

He didn't.

He drove into me over and over with one hand twisting in my hair, tugging my head back.

One reaching around to find my clit.

"Come for me," he said. "Come on my cock. Right now."

"Say it again."

"Come for me, plus nobody."

I did.

It rolled up out of my stomach and tore through me, long and ragged.

I cried out his name loud enough to wake the whole county.

His hips stuttered behind me.

He shouted something that wasn't a word, and buried himself, and I felt him pulsing deep inside me.

We collapsed together into the hay.

He pulled me back against his chest with one arm, shaking, and kissed my shoulder.

My neck, and the freckles on the back of it.

"Thank you," he said into my skin.

"For what?"

"I don't know. All of it."

I laughed with my eyes shut, and the work light buzzed, and somewhere below us a truck door slammed.

It was close to two in the morning when I climbed back down the ladder, with hay in my hair and my dress zipped wrong.

Colt was standing at the bottom with my shoes in his hand, exactly where I'd left him.

Jesse came down the rungs right behind me, and his hand was warm on my back.
