"One entrant," I said.
"I'm so sorry," said the man in the windbreaker, and he truly looked it.
"We had a chain in 2019 that entered three bakeries from one kitchen."
He held up both forms.
Under PRIMARY OVEN, in the same round handwriting, each one said Founders' Oven, 1946.
Dagny, in the doorway with a tray of muffins, made a noise.
"The form only had one box," she said. "It's a very small box. I filled in both."
"It's all right, miss."
"It is not all right. I've ruined everything. I'm going to go and live in a ditch."
"One of you needs to withdraw by Saturday the first," said the Dairyland man, and tapped his clipboard.
"Or I have to disqualify both."
He shook our hands, one at a time, as if we were at a funeral, and left through the alley.
Soren and I stood and looked at each other.
"Clause six," I said carefully. "Nobody throws the Cup."
